The Sage Gateshead
Project details
In 2008, Waagner-Biro was able to assert itself as a design & build contractor in the UK with a new order for the Sage Gateshead music centre. The Sage Gateshead is a centre for musical education, performance and conferences, located in Gateshead on the South bank of the river Tyne, in the north east of England.
Waagner-Biro UK Stage Systems and its Group sister company, Waagner-Biro Stahlbau, had already played a major role in the original building, which was opened in 2004. The new order involves three lifting podiums and 15 seating wagons as well as a new PLC control system. In addition, in teamwork with local partners, special fire protection equipment, stage timber and sound systems were also delivered.
