Built in 1884, the Trisanna is still among the most amazing bridges of the Arlberg Railway in Tyrol. And not just because of the picturesque surroundings into which it so harmoniously blends. With a free span of 120m it was, for many decades, the railway bridge in Austria with the greatest span. Its total length of 230m runs above the Trisanna Gorge at an altitude of 87m.
Due to the requirements of modern railway traffic, the old structure had to be replaced in 1964. Waagner-Biro completely assembled the replacement on a 90m high scaffold and inserted it into the position of the old bridge at night in just 11 hours. The old steel structure was dismantled.
