Al Ghubaiba Water Transport Station
The Dubai Ferry Project was one of the prestigious projects launched by Dubai Road and Transport Authority in order to create an integrated public transport network for Dubai public transport commuters. Al Ghubaiba Water Transport Station is very close to the Metro station and local and international bus terminals and other water transport services.
Waagner Biro’s scope was to create a berthing and operation facility for two of the Dubai ferries, for two Water Taxis, for two Water Buses and for two Service Boats. The berthing facility was constructed with 3 nos. steel pontoons including timber decking, size: 26.66 x 6.00m each, which were be joined to one big pontoon (80.39 x 6m). This pontoon was covered with a heritage style shading structure fixed to the steel pontoons. In addition a landing pontoon (size: 22.42 x 6.5m) was installed in order to support the moveable bridge/gangway (size: 22.7 x 3.3m) on the sea side.
The existing facilities on the land side were fully refurbished in order to create a heritage style public open space with special lighting arrangements.
