New executive on the Board of Waagner-Biro Austria Stage Systems AG
The 41-year old Viennese possesses extensive technical knowledge - he studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University in Vienna, focussing on conveyance engineering, machine tools and automation technology.
Mr Kontrus embarked on his career with OTIS Österreich GmbH, Vienna, where he worked in a range of positions - from Field Industrial Engineering & Training Manager, Senior Manager Sales & Field Support (OTIS Vienna), Area Director Field, EHS & Quality for UK & Central Europe (OTIS Berlin and UK), sole Managing Director and Area Director Central European Group (OTIS Vienna).
As the new chairman of the internationally active organisation Waagner-Biro Austria Stage Systems, Mr Kontrus faces great challenges. On the one hand he will be required to ensure that the numerous projects currently underway are executed successfully on time and satisfactorily for our customers (for example the Oper Unter den Linden in Berlin, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Yerewan Opera House and many more). On the other hand, he will also be required to develop further momentum in the acquisition of new customers and projects around the world, and establish long-term commercial relationships in the area of ongoing service and support.
Waagner-Biro Stage Systems, one of the world's leading suppliers of stage technology, is a 100% subsidiary company of Waagner-Biro Aktiengesellschaft. As one of the global market leaders, the company has mastered the art of developing and installing technical systems, which perform their functions in opera and theatre houses, as well as music and multi-purpose halls, quickly, extremely quietly and almost invisibly.
In doing so Waagner-Biro utilises experience spanning almost 160 years. The company is also constantly expanding the boundaries of technical feasibility. The list of references is accordingly impressive. As such the company based in Vienna has delivered stage systems to many internationally renowned houses. These include: Vienna State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Copenhagen Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Ljubljana Opera, Stavanger Concert Hall, La Fenice Venice, MCHAT Theatre Moscow, Sydney Opera House, Teatro Colon Buenos Aires, Teatro Municipal Rio, Seoul Arts Centre, Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre and many more.
