Construction site bridge near Großsierning
Waagner-Biro’s panel bridge system (Bailey-type) impresses with very light individual elements, high load capacity and durability through high-strength steel and simple adaptation to different spans and road widths. Further advantages include the short construction time and the rapid training of construction staff on site. This type of bridge lends itself particularly well to temporary construction site bridges.
Here is a current reference:
At Großsierning, Austria, the national road B1 crosses the Sierning Brook. The existing road bridge from 1947 had to be rebuilt due to fatigue damage that it had suffered during its 70 years in service. In order to ensure unhindered passage for crossing traffic during the construction period of the new bridge, vehicles were temporarily rerouted – over a period of six months starting in April 2017 – via a double-lane Waagner-Biro panel bridge with steel deck. The temporary structure was rented by the construction company on site. Within only a few days, the 30.48-metre steel bridge was completely preassembled right next to the existing structure. After completion of the construction works, the dismantling occurred just as quickly. The high load specifications according to Eurocode required an arrangement of standard panels in three rows next to each other, despite the bridge’s short span.
The bridge was erected and dismantled by launching under the instruction of Waagner-Biro experts. The necessary launching equipment was also provided by Waagner-Biro.
