Pipeline Bridges Mellach
Since early 2009, Siemens Energy, as a general contractor, has been building a gas and steam power plant in Mellach. The company INTEGRAL, which is responsible for the local plant and pipe technology, commissioned Waagner-Biro Stahlbau AG as subcontractor for the construction of two pipeline bridges in July 2009.
The Muehlbach Bridge, with a length of 26 m, is a bolted truss bridge with two continuous walkways and railings on both sides, as well as a substructure for cables and pipes. The bridge has a structural weight of about 23 t. It was completed in December 2009.
The Mur Bridge, with a length of 80 m, is a bolted truss bridge and provided with three continuous walkways with railings on both sides. It is also furnished with a substructure for cables and pipes. The bridge has a structural weight of 252 t, a width of 8.9 m between the main trusses and a structural height of about 3.5 m. For the installation work, there has been made available a paved assembly area with a length of 60 m and a width of approximately 30 m. The installation of the Mur Bridge took about 6 weeks and was completed in April 2010. During this time, road traffic on the banks of the Mur river was diverted.
