Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC)
Waagner-Biro Stage Systems succeeded against heaviest international competition in participating in one of the world´s most ambitious construction projects in the capital of Doha. The Turkish construction company Baytur is the general contractor for the "Qatar Education City Convention Center (QECCC)" with a project value of more than 600 million dollars. Waagner-Biro is supplying the stage equipment.
The QECCC is to become the landmark of the region. The extraordinary architectural structure covers an area of 79,000 m2 and is based on the national symbol, the Sidra tree.
The three main halls can accommodate 7,000 conference participants distributed onto an auditorium with 2,500 seats, a theater with 500 seats and a multipurpose hall with 4,000 seats.
Additional smaller halls for conferences, banquets and 15,000 m2 exposition area as well as infrastructure facilities complete the complex. This means that the "Qatar Education City" focuses not only on conference business but also intends to organise musical and artistic events and thereby also wants to meet cultural demands.
Waagner-Biro´s contract included adjustable acoustic installations, stage elevators, trap elevators, seating wagons, safety curtain and other curtains, hoists and other upper stage machinery including the electronic Waagner-Biro CAT control system. The installation was supplied as turnkey system meeting the highest international requirements on safety and reliability.
