Vienna State Opera
The Vienna State Opera is among the most remarkable opera houses in Europe. Waagner-Biro has already been associated with the house for decades. Following the destruction caused during the second-world war, the magnificent building on Vienna’s Ringstrasse was reconstructed between 1952 and 1955 with the help of Waagner-Biro.
Between 1992 and 1996, Waagner-Biro equipped the State Opera with completely new drive technology. They followed this in 2001 with the installation of a CAT V3 control system. In 2007, Waagner-Biro was contracted to modernize the control system for all the lower stage machinery. In the following year, the upper stage machinery was enhanced by the installation of the CAT V4 control system.
In fulfilling a very special annual contract, Waagner-Biro puts its assembly skills to the test: Every year, the world famous Vienna Opera Ball transforms the State Opera into perhaps the most beautiful ballroom in the world. Within just a few hours, dozens of extra opera boxes are installed near the stage to make enough room for this great society event.
